"When we purchased our home, there were two primary reasons for choosing it: the location but more importantly, its potential to be transformed into our dream home. The previous owner had hired Anat for a remodel, and as part of the home purchase we received a copy of the proposed plans. We immediately fell in love with her design.
While the original plans were beautiful, they weren't the right fit for our family's needs. After living through COVID, our priorities had changed—we wanted dedicated work-from-home space, a room for each child, and a layout that would better support our family's lifestyle. We hired Anat to redesign the home specifically for us, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions we made.
Anat did a fantastic job translating our vision into a thoughtful, functional, and elegant design. She was incredibly thorough, paid close attention to detail, and provided recommendations across a range of budgets, from mid-range to high-end finishes, allowing us to make informed decisions without feeling pressured.
What truly set Anat apart was her ability to manage the entire design and permitting process. She coordinated seamlessly with the structural engineer, civil engineer, geotechnical engineer, and the city throughout permitting. During this time, we welcomed our second child, so having someone who could take ownership of coordinating all of these moving pieces was invaluable. Without her guidance, I honestly don't think we would have successfully navigated such a complex project.
Today, we are about a year into construction and only a few months away from moving into the home we've dreamed about for years. We owe a great deal of that to Anat.
One thing worth mentioning is that Anat's services are not the least expensive. After talking with others who had built custom homes, we realized we paid more than some people did for architectural services. However, looking back, it was money extremely well spent. The level of detail in her drawings and specifications saved us significant costs during construction
A perfect example was our plumbing. Our contractor initially planned to install PEX water lines, but Anat's plans clearly specified copper plumbing. We had overlooked that detail in our construction contract, but because it was explicitly included in the architectural drawings, the contractor's bid reflected the design documents, and we avoided what could have been a very expensive change order. Experiences like this happened more than once and reinforced how much value there is in a complete, carefully detailed set of plans.
Quality design rarely comes cheaply, but Anat delivers exceptional value. She is practical, collaborative, and always mindful of the overall budget while never compromising the integrity of the design. She genuinely wanted us to reach the finish line with a home we would love.
